Hiking the Hooker Valley Track (with a toddler!)

After two nights in the Mount Cook area, and one day dodging the rain showers to explore the Tasman Valley, we were very excited to wake on our final day to see huge blue skies and barely a cloud in sight. A perfect day to walk the famous and incredibly scenic Hooker Valley Track! This track takes approximately three hours to walk and is just about the perfect place for walking with a toddler. The views are incredible, as the path is surrounded on all sides by mountains, and winds along beside the pretty river, but the path is easy-walking terrain with just a few ups and downs and stairs. The chance to spot flowers along the way and walk across ‘wobbly bridges’ with the promise of perhaps spotting a few ‘ice block bergs’ (as Layla used to call them) at the end is enough to keep little people interested … for a little while at least. Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy by the lake with a spectacular view up to Mount Cook.
