Mystery, intrigue and beauty.

Behind the doors of London, Spain and Portugal.

From prettily painted pink doors, adorned with colourful pots of hanging baskets, in London. To doors of faded grandeur with peeling paint and promises of former glory in Portugal. Archways, partly obscured from the street, but full of intrigue when glimpsed by passers-by in tiny, white Spanish towns perched on hilltops.

The doorways of Spain, Portugal and London were a constant source of interest, fascination and photographic inspiration on our recent trip abroad. They reveal so much about a city, or indeed even a suburb. Fancy doorways in fancy parts of London, beautifully tiled surrounds to the character-filled doorways in picturesque Porto. Grungy, graffitied doorways in the heart of bohemian Lisbon. Brightly coloured doorways giving a hint on individuality to houses in otherwise all white Spanish streets. It is enough to make me want to paint my front door red, to bring a little of the fun closer to home.
